- Worcester University (St Johns Campus) (0.9 miles)
The City of Worcester is set in the Southern part of the West Midlands. Home to the University of Worcester, it only gained its status as a university in 2005. Although not a very big University with approximately 8,000 students, these numbers are quiet low compared to other major cities. Regardless of that, student accommodation in Worcester is not too hard to find. Being one of the smaller towns in the U.K, it still has its fair share of clubs and pubs, with enough places catering to students to make it fun. The student union has its own student Dive Bar restricted only for students, a crazy place for letting your hair down and meeting new people. Wanting a more local environment, you can never walk to far in any direction before you come across a local pub, my pick being the Slug and Lettuce, which has two rooms and a dance floor. Your largest shopping mall is Crowngate Shopping Centre, here you’ll find almost everything including brands such as Vans, Levi’s, Ralph Lauren and a number of department stores. You should know that Worcester is quite a historical place, it has several beautiful cathedrals and even a castle. Many green areas including Croome and Spetchely Park, great places to exercise or conduct study groups in the summer months. Being a close knit community, it has a lovely community feel about the place, good transport links in and out the city, and definitely has a chic student vibe. Student accommodation in Worcester is easily found, with the majority of properties being houses rented just for students, price are fairly cheap compared to other cities, with rooms as low as £65 a week!
