- Peterborough University (1.2 miles)
Peterborough is located in the East of England, and has two major universities in the city. They’re The University Centre Peterborough, and a campus for the Anglia Ruskin University. The students make up a decent percentage of the local population, meaning student accommodation in Peterborough is very much in abundance. Night outs in Peterborough are always good given the amount of students in the area, Liquid Nightclub is very popular on a Thursday with students, offering cheap drinks and discounted entry. If you’re not a big dancer or club goer, the student unions have plenty of things going on throughout the week to keep you entertained. Queensgate and Serpentine Green Shopping Centres give you stacks of places to go shop, eat, wonder and even study, with numerous places offering free WiFi. If you enjoy rock climbing, Peterborough has its very own Rock & Rope Climbing Centre, three golf clubs although I’d suspect you’d need a bit more money than your student loan provides to get a membership there! Warsaw Caves is a big nature reserve which offers beaches, canoeing, hiking and even camping. This city is pretty diverse and it’s impossible to get bored as a student. With two universities in Peterborough, this city is a good choice for the solo student who is moving away from home for the first time. You’ll always be in company amongst other students and I’m sure you’ll make friends in no time. Student Accommodation in Peterborough is quite cheap compared to other parts of the U.K, with furnished rooms being on the market for as low as £70 per week!
