Southampton is located in the south of England, and homes two pretty big universities. The biggest is The University of Southampton, followed by Southampton Solent University. Between them they hold around 35,000 students, so as you’d expect with these kinds of numbers, you won’t have trouble to find student pads or houses in Southampton that’s for sure. For the student who likes to release a bit of stress by drinking and dancing, Oceana Nightclub tends to be the number one choice for students, with drinks as cheap as £2 and free entry before 11pm on certain nights. WestQuay and Marlands Shopping Centres are both located in the city centre, giving you ample choice on where to eat, potter around, or buy clothes. The local people in Southampton are very warm and welcoming, must be something to do with being so close to the coast I think. When in need of a more relaxing day, walk down to the docks and see the ships role in. If you plan it right you might be able to see the Queen Elizabeth 2nd come to dock, truly a magnificent sight. Heading into the southern part of Southampton, you can hike in the New Forest National Park, which gets around 15 million visitors each year. Here you will see tons of wildlife to, with some great old school British woodlands. Southampton has a good reputation for being a top student town, and it’s only a boat ride away from Holland and France. Most of the locals are super cool and friendly, Southampton student accommodation is well supplied throughout the city, mostly being student house shares to help accommodate so many students.
