Top 2019 Summer Holiday Destinations for Students

The academic year is over. Graduations are complete. Relax – it’s time to enjoy the warm weather and put uni out of your mind for a few months. While you’re on your break, have you thought about a holiday? For budget reasons, it might be the furthest from your mind right now. But if you play your cards right, you can get some great last minute deals to these student friendly places.

Budapest

Beach holidays seem to be the norm for the Brit abroad. Increasingly, however, the city break is rising in popularity. Few cities are as popular today as the Hungarian capital. It has all the things that once appealed to students about Prague. That is, stunning architecture and history, vibrant nightlife, and choice in dining. Prague has become expensive; Budapest has risen in its place. Take a river cruise and then find a bar to sip inexpensive beer while watching the sun go down.

Majorca

The Balearics are always a safe bet. It’s an ideal destination for those students looking for a bit of variety. Yes, there are bars and nightlife, but this is the ideal place for couples too. It has an excellent waterpark and other activities. Learn to paddleboard, surf, windsurf and a lot of other activities. In the evenings, trendy bars and eateries abound. There is also a quieter side to Majorca: castles, caves, coastal walks and plenty of culture too.

Rhodes

From one popular Med destination to another. Greece remains popular for couples and groups of friends alike. Few islands have as much going for it as the sunshine island. Notorious for the clubbing centre Faliraki, the resort has a fantastic water park and miles of golden sandy beach. For a quieter holiday for couples, Lindos and Lardos Beach are great destinations. Rhodes Town is a vibrant place if you like big, busy towns, with trendy bars in the new town and history in the Old Town.

Berlin

The German capital has, until recently, been overlooked as far as European capital cities are concerned. Yet it’s challenging the other capitals like Prague, Budapest, Amsterdam and others as a viable holiday destination. It doesn’t have beaches, true. What it does have is incredible history and architecture, stunning cityscapes and plenty of places to eat and drink. For music fans, few cities in Europe will beat Berlin.

Amsterdam

Another popular city destination, Amsterdam is full of trendy bars. The flat nature of the city makes it a great place to explore by bicycle. The cheapness of pedal power makes the city popular with students. You can be out in the Dutch countryside in no time, exploring the landscape. Although high summer is the wrong time for tulips, the lush greenery will help you relax between academic years.
