Student Accommodation in Oxford

The University of Oxford; the definition of pomp and circumstance. Thought to have been founded in 1096, this Oxford is the most prestigious establishment of higher education in England, and is the second oldest surviving university in the world at nearly a century old. Getting into this place of excellence is no mean feat, but when you do, is it full of old men smoking pipes and reading literature, or is there a student life behind it all?

Student Life at Oxford

Life at Oxford is different to how it was many years ago, if you get in you won’t be around a bunch of snobby elites, you’ll be around your peers, other students with the intelligence to get through the starting gate. But after the lectures, the essays and the tutorials, if you have the time, is there anything to do? Well, yes. Oxford is an exciting place for both party animals and sophisticated types. The university often throws balls, dinner dances, banquets, and many other black tie events. On the other end of the spectrum, clubs like Lava and Ignite, close to the campus, offer great student nights out. Outside of the student nights prices in all venues are pricey, but if you want a cheap drink there are a number of bars on campus where you can save a bit of doe. The university is also famed for its societies, this includes the Bullingdon Club. Now the stuff of legend, the club was supposedly similar to an American fraternity and had members such as Boris Johnson and David Cameron. Oxford is known for being more intense than many other universities and so it should be but, if you have time to break away from your studies every now and then, I’m sure you’ll find something good to pass the time with.
