Founded in 1872, it has a long and proud history that ensures that for every nine months of the year, the small and sleepy town of Aberystwyth has its population bolstered by over 15,000 students, effectively doubling the population of the town. I’ll start with a lovely little fact about Aberystwyth sure to get you motivated. Per square mile, Aber has more pubs than anywhere else in the country. Now I’ve got you interested, the university itself is home to a number of club nights, as well as featuring its own fully functional cinema. You never need leave the campus. But, if you do happen to venture into the dark and untamed land of Wales, you might just come across one of the many wild hand-gliding and parachute centers, along with a lot of other activities guaranteed to get you outdoorsy types drooling. For those, more relaxed, students Aber also has a thriving music and arts community for you to get stuck into. And for everybody else, or for those of you who just like to do everything, the university has many societies and sports teams; enough to ensure there is something for everyone.
